Itinerary
Depart New York via Emirates trans-Atlantic flight to Dubai.
Arrive in Dubai, a city of merchants, and transfer to your hotel. (Hilton Garden Inn Muraqabat/Park Regis Kris Kin)
Your morning tour of this fascinating city begins at the magnificent Jumeirah mosque. Pass modern palaces sprawled along the coast. Visit the iconic Burj Khalifa and enjoy the panoramic view from the observation deck (ticket included). In Bastakia, stop to admire the old wind-tower houses built by wealthy merchants. Close by stands the 150-year-old Al Fahidi Fort, which houses the Dubai Museum. Cross the creek by abra (the local water taxi) and visit the gold and spice souks (market places). In the evening, take a traditional Dhow cruise along Dubai Creek and Marina while enjoying local delicacies on board.
Optional day tour: From Dubai, travel past the world's largest manmade port at Jebel Ali on a two-hour drive through coastal desert scenery studded with acacia trees. Arrive in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates. Visit the Heritage village, ancient Al Husn Fort, Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation, the old dhow yard and charming Batinah harbor. Return to Dubai in the evening.
For a magical evening, leave behind the bustle of the city in the afternoon, as a four-wheel-drive vehicle takes you on a thrilling journey over rolling dunes, deep into the heart of the desert. Stop to see camels, and from the crest of a high dune, watch the sun cast its orange glow over the rippling sand. A traditional Arabian welcome awaits you. Relax in Bedu tents, experience a short camel ride, and feast on Arab dishes under a galaxy of stars, while entertained by belly dancers.
Two days at leisure to explore the city on your own. Or, sign up for optional tours at the hotel tour desk.
